Conservation audit tool ready for use

This Conservation audit tool is designed to assess and evaluate conservation programs against industry standard best design to help the audited project adopt better adaptive management.

Developed and refined for CMP by Elizabeth O’Neill and Sheila O’Connor, it is based on their years of personal experience, with input from many OS community members and with financial support from CMP.

The Open Standards set teams up for evaluations and assessments. Results chains in particular provide frameworks for identifying key evaluation questions. Where teams wish to evaluate but did not start out with an explicit theory of change, results chains may be generated retrospectively to frame key questions for evaluation.

Many auditing or evaluation efforts have involved a non-experimental design and usually ex-post data. Efforts range from intensive (for instance see here) to “quick and dirty.”

There is also a Google spreadsheet version. currently in beta form.

Feedback from people using this tool is welcomed.
